For any knowledge-based society, research is formalized curiosity, poking and prying with a purpose built upon the basic principles – survive and thrive, publish or perish. In the 21^st century challenged by unprecedented technological advancement coupled with uncompromised competitiveness, academics need to explore novel concepts and contexts in diverse perspectives involving analysis, observation, exploration, experimentation, and interpretation that require critical thinking skills which allow a scholar to translate the scientific method into practice, for theory and practice go hand in hand – without theory practice is blind, and without practice theory is empty. The wheel of science is built upon quality research that not only sparks new ideas and unexplored facts, but also leaves scopes for further exploration for the inquisitive minds that never take pride in finding solutions but creating future opportunities for others. Research Society is working towards this end shaping many minds. I wish all the success for its future development.

21^st century is known as the era of information technology. Useful information is the foundation of keeping one’s nation with the times, enlightening its people, and progressing the society. However, in a less developed country like Bangladesh, students sometimes fail to get proper information regarding study and research, due to the lack of advanced guidance. In this point, Research Society has opened a new horizon in Bangladesh, where full of useful information including sharing scientific ideas, announcing study opportunities and organizing training programs on important technical subjects, and all of these are completely free of cost. I believe that Research Society will bring Bangladeshi students more closely to the outer world, and also the outer world more closely to Bangladeshi people.

We are living in a science-based society while our future will continue to rely on the outcomes of science. Unfortunately, most of our students in Bangladesh think that government jobs including BCS are the best for their careers. To get a government job, they spend years while only a small fraction of the students get succeeded. As a result, millions of our graduates remain unemployed. On the flip side of this scenario, a large amount of our foreign currency is just outflowed by only a few thousand skilled foreign workers suggesting that we need skilled hands. Moreover, there are a lot of scopes for employment for skilled people. Many of the developing countries including India, Pakistan, and Nepal are harvesting these benefits. Given that Bangladesh has a large young population, it can potentially explore these opportunities too. Research Society, a voluntary organization, is helping and inspiring people to grow a science-based career. It is my privilege to be part of this society and would like to contribute at my level best.
